Guinea pigs and children
Guinea pigs have complex care needs and fragile bodies and do not make good children’s pets unless under strict adult supervision, where the adult accepts all responsibility for the care. Guinea pigs are at risk of injury if not handled correctly, and as prey animals, they should not be exposed to loud environments. We therefore advise that children only interact with Guinea Pigs on ground level and under the supervision of an adult.
